MARTIN STEELE, the 800 metres runner given a late call-up into Great Britain's European Championships squad, has withdrawn from the Helsinki-bound party to concentrate on the Commonwealth Games. The marathon runner Alison Rose, who competes for Edinburgh Woollen Mill, has replaced the injured Zina Marchant in the squad for the European Championships, which begin on 7 August.
