JOHN KRUK, 33, Philadelphia's first baseman, had a testicle removed that was found to be cancerous. Kruk will have further tests, and if the cancer has not spread, he can expect to be playing in three weeks. Kruk hit .316 with 14 homers, 85 RBIs and 100 runs last season and was the National League's starting first baseman in the All-Star game.
