THE New York Yankees improved their record as the best team in the majors by winning their 10th consecutive game, a 12-1 rout of the Milwaukee Brewers. Don Mattingly contributed four of their 17 hits, one a homer. The win took the Yankees to 26-10, nine games clear of the faltering World Series champions, the Toronto Blue Jays, in the American League East.
