Italy beat England 4-1 in Lugo, near Bologna, yesterday in the build- up to October's Women's European Championship qualifying matches. Doncaster Belles' Karen Walker scored a consolation from the spot in the 90th minute.

Arsenal's Marc Overmars has withdrawn from the Dutch squad travelling to Brazil for two friendlies next month. The winger has a groin injury. Internazionale's Aron Winter has also pulled out for family reasons. Wim Jonk, Sheffield Wednesday's midfielder, and Feyenoord's Patrick Pauwe have been called in.
