ALDERSHOT TOWN, formed after the old Aldershot FC went into liquidation, secured promotion in their first season in the Diadora League Third Division by beating Tring 2-0.

ANDY AWFORD of Portsmouth (calf) and Newcastle's Steve Howey (groin) yesterday withdrew from England's squad for tomorrow's European Under-21 Championship qualifier in Izmir.
