Carlos Franco, of Parauguay, beat the faltering local favourite Jerry Kelly to claim his second victory in as many months on the PGA Tour at Wisconsin. Franco tuned up for this week's Open at Carnoustie by setting the 72-hole scoring record at the Greater Milwaukee Open with a 20-under- par total of 264. He capitalised on three straight bogeys by Kelly to post a two-shot triumph after a final-round five-under-par 66. Tom Lehman, the 1996 Open champion, notched his third runner-up finish of the year while Kelly could only manage an even-par 71 to finish four shots behind Franco.
