SOUTH AFRICA beat Manawatu 47-21 at Palmerston North yesterday, but had their lock Adri Geldenhuys sent off 10 minutes from time for punching an opponent in a maul. Geldenhuys has been suspended for a week and will be unavailable for Saturday's second Test against New Zealand. South Africa's captain, Francois Pienaar, came through his first game after three weeks' absence following concussion, while Western Province's Nico Wegner has been called up to replace another lock, Krynauw Otto, forced out of the tour because of a cracked cheekbone.
