PETER BLAKE and Robin Knox-Johnston were yesterday at nearly 60 degrees south and averaging 20 knots to the south of New Zealand in their bid to sail around the world in under 80 days. They have 44 days left to beat the 79-day 15-hour record set last year by Bruno Peyron.
