Sporting Digest: Sailing
LAWRIE SMITH'S lead on the fourth leg of the Whitbread Round the World Race has been reduced to 12 miles by Chris Dickson in Tokio. Smith, who is the overall race leader in Intrum Justitia, was still sailing on a course further to the south than his rivals. Ross Field's Yamaha reported being stopped after hitting a shark.
