Sir: There is no best man for the job for the simple reason that there is only a best woman.

Curiously no one, so far, appears to have considered the possibility of Margaret Thatcher (below, left) being restored to the reins of power, albeit for England rather than the United Kingdom.

She is available at the moment and the combination of her militarism and rhetoric would surely restore our credibility on the world sporting scene. She has, after all, an excellent track record against awkward foreign opposition.
