Sports Letters: Ward declared
Sir: I would question your statement that Jimmy Barrett of West Ham has the 'honour' of the shortest England career at eight minutes.
I think it's held by Peter Ward of Brighton and Hove Albion, who came on in the 88th minute against Australia in 1980. Admittedly, I do not have a record of the number of minutes of injury time. Ward was not selected again for the squad.
Yours faithfully,
