Production and racing motorcycles, solo and sidecar, ranging from 125cc to the 1300cc large-engined machines, will compete in the 16 races scheduled for this big club meeting on Sunday. Mallory Park, in Leicestershire, has no grandstands, but the natural amphitheatre allows views of the entire circuit, including the lakes, Shaws hairpin, where the motorcycles slow to 20mph and, as a contrast, the breathtaking Gerrards bend, one of the fastest in the country, which the bigger machines will exit at more than 100mph. There is a fancy-dress prize for the competitors and many of the riders will wear costumes over their leathers, the winner receiving a plum pudding. Mr Blobby is highly fancied.

How to get there: Mallory Park, Leicestershire, is off the A47 at Kirkby Mallory between Leicester and Hinckley. Admission: pounds 6 adults, accompanied children 16 and under are free. Practice starts at 9.30am and the first race is at 10.45am, with the programme closing at 5pm. (Tel: 0455-842931).
