IMPROVED facilities at this year's British Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone on 11 July will be a boon to spectators, but a British win would be a bonus, with Damon Hill, third in the championship, and four other domestic drivers in the race.

The Tourist Information Centre at Brackley can supply information on accommodation. The main hotels in the area are often booked months in advance, but the centre can advise, particularly on bed and breakfast in the outlying villages. There are campsites next to the circuit, booked on arrival. Silverstone has arrangements for the disabled visitor.

Motor Racing International, the Sandwich-based specialist, organises return coaches on race day with several pickup points nationwide. Prices start at pounds 19 and coaches arrive at Silverstone early, allowing spectators to seek out a good vantage point around the circuit. The operator also has a coach package with champagne breakfast for pounds 69.

Page and Moy Ltd, of Leicester, also provide coaches from several cities. The company's hospitality packages cost pounds 345 per person, which includes grandstand seat. Airtrack Services Ltd, of Uxbridge, offers hospitality at pounds 299. A helicopter service to the circuit is operated by all three companies and hotel accommodation can be provided by Motor Racing and Airtrack.
