Sheffield Steelers are for sale for pounds 4m, and the team's owner, George Dodds, has said that he has been approached by three potential buyers and is talking with a fourth.
Dodds, a Spanish-based businessman, said: "The organisation cannot stand still. We have to expand, and for that we need to find someone with the money to invest. Three parties have already said they wish to become involved partially or wholly in our operation. We are also in talks with a fourth party. I would listen to any approach prepared to share the increasing load of developing the club.
"This has been brought about by the realisation that the current development programme is demanding more time than I have to be in the United Kingdom, and that the new Super League environment will drive team costs higher if we are to remain in the forefront."
