Table Tennis: Cooke runs out of steam in final
ALAN COOKE failed to regain the Commonwealth title he won in 1989, losing 21-15, 21-17, 21-17 to Johnny Huang, the world No 14 from Canada, in the men's singles final here yesterday, writes James Leigh from Hyderabad.
Huang helped himself to a hat-trick of titles - he won the men's doubles for Canada with Joe Ng and the mixed with Barbara Chiu - and ensured there were ex-Chinese winners of all five individual titles.
The England squad finished with one gold and one silver medal from the team events and one silver and two bronze from the individual events.
