Nadal crashes out of Thailand Open semifinals
Top-ranked Rafael Nadal was knocked out of the Thailand Open on Saturday, going down 2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in an all-Spanish semifinal.
The 53rd-ranked Garcia-Lopez's impressive string of winners and flat, wide serves surprised Nadal, who was fresh from his U.S. Open victory to complete a career Grand Slam.
Garcia-Lopez will face 60th-ranked Jarkko Nieminen in Sunday's final after the Finn beat Benjamin Becker of Germany 6-3, 6-2.
