South Africa’s Lloyd Harris has been handed the unenviable task of facing Roger Federer in the opening round of Wimbledon.

The 22-year-old, currently ranked No 2 in his home country behind Kevin Anderson, is making his first appearance at the Championships but will have to pull off a major upset if he hopes to progress any further at the competition.

In February, due to his victory at the Launceston Tennis International, Harris reached the 100th spot in the ATP Rankings, cracking the Top 100 for the first time in his career.

He’s currently ranked No 87 in the world.

Harris has also represented South Africa at the Davis Cup where he has a W/L record of 9–3.

Best Wimbledon finish: This will be Harris’ Wimbledon debut.

Grand Slam best: The youngster made it to the second round of the French Open last month, where he was beaten in straight sets by Croatia’s Borna Coric.

Highest ranking: Harris’ ranking is at an all-time high, at 87.

Current Ranking: As above.

Age: 22

How did he perform last year? Harris has no Wimbledon record to speak of.
