Edinburgh is in the grip of rugby fever, with pounds 22 tickets for this afternoon's Scotland against England Calcutta Cup match set to fetch up to pounds 1,000 on the black market.

A total of pounds 1m could be riding on the outcome, with bookmakers William Hill, who have England 4-5 favourites and Scotland evens, having taken a pounds 5,000 bet on England.

Paul Austin of Ladbrokes, who cannot separate the teams at 10-11, said: "We estimate that pounds 1m will be wagered on the game, making it the biggest domestic rugby match in history for the betting industry."
