The maximum penalty for killing a Great Crested Newt, which is an endangered species, is pounds 5,000. Hednesford Town, the GM Vauxhall Conference club who play Middlesbrough in the FA Cup tomorrow, have been unable to extend their Keys Park stadium due to the presence of newts on their land.
