Ageing Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has admitted that he 'sucks' as his team lost their third game in a row to start the season.

Bryant, 37, is in the final year of his contract and has had to overcome serious injury in each of the last three years.

The five-time Champion, two-time Finals MVP, 17-time All-Star and 2008 league MVP has played just 44 of a possible 167 games since the beginning of the 2013-14 season, while the Lakers have not reached the play-offs since 2012-13, where they were dumped out in the first round.

"I just can't make a shot," said Bryant, who is 16 for 51 from the field overall and averaging just 17 points per game. "I'm getting the shots I want. I'm just not making them.

"D'Angelo [Russell]'s putting me in the right spots and stuff like that. I've got to capitalise for him, that's all If I could make a damn shot, that would help.

"I suck right now."
