Ellie Day, the wife of world No 2 golfer Jason, has been released from hospital after a collision involving NBA star LeBron James.

The 6ft 8in James, who weighs close to 18 stone, crashed into Mrs Day as she sat courtisde during the Cleveland Cavaliers 104-100 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder overnight.

She was taken to a local hospital on a stretcher after James chased a looseball at full speed.

James, who scored 33 points and added 11 assists in the win, said he had spoke to Mrs Day as she was led out of the Quicken Loans Arena.

"I squeezed her hand and she said she was OK,” he said. “She was just a little weary,

"Hopefully, she is doing well,” James said. “The guys told me she’s doing great now. For me, just going for a loose ball, tried to keep the possession going, I just hate that that was the end result."

He later Tweeted: "Ellie Day I hope you’re doing okay! My apologies! Hope u guys come back to another game soon. Love LJ!"

The Days live in a nearby Columbus suburb and often attend Cavaliers games - Jason, an Australian, had chipped foam basketballs into the crowd during an earlier timeout.
