It may not be the most sought-after internship among recent graduates, but those who do want to work alongside Donald Trump would need to have a spare $100,000 (£69,276).

That’s right, the Trump Organisation in New York is looking to take on a graduate for a ten-week long internship, and the role will be given to the highest bidder.

Advertised on Charitybuzz - an auction site which gives its users the opportunity to bid on “unique and extraordinary experiences” - the successful candidate will begin the role this summer.

So far, the vacancy has interested two people, with the current bid sitting at $40,000 (£27,746).

Candidates will have the “exclusive opportunity” to sit for 15 minutes each with Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump to “pick their brains” about how to be successful in the real estate and business world.

Those who are at risk of being star-struck, though, may want to think before bidding, as the vacancy says: “[Candidates] must be comfortable working in close proximity and communicating effectively with high-net worth and/or high-profile individuals.”

Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with administrative and personal family responsibilities, running physical errands, and greeting and accepting guests and clients.

All in all, the opening has been described as a “priceless opportunity.” However, founder of UK careers site Graduate Fog, Tanya de Grunwald, has taken issue with the fact that the role seems to be aimed solely at those who come from “super-rich” backgrounds.

Despite acknowledging that the money raised will go towards a good cause, challenging Charitybuzz in an email, Ms Grunwald said she was “concerned” the Trump family is “entrenching privilege” among people from backgrounds similar to theirs.

Somewhat confusingly, a charity spokesperson replied: “It is most certainly not our intention to ‘entrench’ privilege, but rather to encourage those who are privileged to give to others and to provide as many opportunities as possible for them to do so.” Okay.

And just some small print to add in for good measure for those thinking of bidding: “Winner subject to approval by the Trump Organisation.

“The Trump Organisation reserves the right to terminate this internship at their discretion without refund.

“Travel and accommodations are NOT included.”
