A four-part Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Briefing contains Call of Duty's four pillars of design, multiplayer details, premium membership perks, and trailers.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg took to the stage at the start of Call of Duty's fan event, Call of Duty XP.

The series is based on four design principles, he said: epic realism that crosses authenticity with blockbuster moments; a desire to create the ultimate adrenaline rush; making games that are easy to play but hard to master; and screen refresh rates of 60 frames per second for a smooth, precise feeling.

The biggest draw was Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer, which aims to be "better, more strategic than ever" for the series veteran and "more fun for the newcomers". Robert Bowling and Mike Condrey from two of the game's developers explained how they've altered the multiplayer mode to reflect that.

The series' new player portal Call of Duty Elite was also given significant focus, with Hirshberg underlining the service's free features before promoting its all-inclusive premium membership.
