Current Google Insights trends: Ramadan, Osym, 'The Expendables' and Plenty of Fish

The terms "2010 kpss sonuçlari" and "Ramadan 2010" are tied as the most searched for topic on Google Insights over the past seven days on the morning of August 16.

"2010 kpss sonuçlari" is a Turkish term and refers to the results of the Turkish governmental exams for teachers and their employment placements.

Ramadan is a Muslim religious practice involving a month-long fast where practitioners refrain from consuming food and water during daylight hours. This year Ramadan began on August 11.

The terms "osym" and "ösym" occupy third and fourth place respectively: the Turkish terms refer to the public body responsible for organizing national level university entrance exams in Turkey. The results of students who have taken exams overseen by Osym are released towards the end of August.

Japanese social networking site "Mixi" is trending at number 5; the site was recently overtaken by Gree, which is now the biggest social networking site in Japan.

"Receita Federal," the federal tax service in Brazil and Peruvian government agency "Sunat" were the 6 and 7 most popular searches.

In eighth place was Sylvester Stallone's new action movie "The Expendables," staring Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li; the film took top spot at the North American box office on the weekend beginning August 13.

Free global dating site "plenty of fish" was trending at number 9. The site is popular in Europe, America and Australia and claims to have 1,300,000 active members.

The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days as measured by Google Insights, recorded on August 16 at 10:30 AM GMT are:
