Chatter on underground message boards used by hackers suggests cyber criminals could have made off with more than two million credit card numbers during the attack on Sony's PlayStation Network.

Cyber security experts who specialise in monitoring criminal activity say they have discovered online market places where a database of details, including credit card numbers, is being offered for up to $100,000 (£60,000).

Kevin Stevens, senior threat researcher at the security firm Trend Micro, said he had seen talk of the database on several hacker forums. Mr Stevens said one forum member told him the hackers had even offered to sell the data back to Sony but did not receive a response from the company.
