Tech agenda: COMPUTEX Taipei, CeBIT Australia, D: All Things Digital

The next few weeks are jam-packed with high-profile technology events. More than 100 tablets are expected to be launched at the second largest computer exhibition in the world, Computex Taipei, and hundreds of exhibitors will display cutting-edge technology during the Australian leg of the world’s largest tech exhibition, CeBIT. Technology and internet leaders will also be discussing the state of the web with The Wall Street Journal’s Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg at D9.

With 106,450 square meters of exhibition space, Computex Taipei (also known as the Taipei International Information Technology Show) is the largest computer exhibition in Asia, second in the world only to CeBIT in Germany. Many large computing firms have research and development centers or production factories in Taiwan and will be coming to the 31st edition of the event to launch their new products. A full spectrum of products are set for launch during the event including e-readers, 3D technology, mobile devices and tablet PCs. More than 121,000 visitors attended Computex in 2010 to see products and services from over 1,700 exhibitors.

The Australian edition of the world's largest digital IT and telecommunications event, CeBIT takes place annually in Sydney, Australia. CeBIT Australia is hailed as the country's largest ICT exhibition (but is only around a 10th of the size of its parent event, CeBIT in Hannover). CeBIT Australia is a focal point of an additional series of events (including AusInnovate NBN, eHealth, eGovernment, Cloud Computing and WebForward) that will run concurrently to the exhibition. More than 600 exhibitors and 30,000 delegates are expected to attend CeBIT Australia in 2011.

Internet Week is a citywide celebration of the vital Web industry with 150 events scheduled around the city, including a conference at the Altman Building and exhibition space at the Metropolitan Pavilion in the Chelsea neighborhood. Arts, technology, media, entertainment and social events are planned. There is an online advertising summit, Google Analytics training for marketers and panels about the latest hot topics in the digital world such as the tablet revolution, social media, and new startups.

E3 Expo Electronic Entertainment

Since 1995, the Electronic Entertainment Expo has grown into the largest US convention for the computer and video game industry, including software developers, retailers and Hollywood representatives. Companies from Nintendo to Sony show off their new games and showcase the latest technology and software (many press conferences are scheduled for June6). After a record 70,000 attendees in 2005, it turned into an invite-only event for a few thousand from more than 80 countries at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Another similar event is the International Conference on Computer Games Multimedia (CGAT), scheduled this year in Malaysia.
