Sales tracking group NPD have released figures detailing the top selling games in the USA during October. Uncharted 2, a PlayStation 3 exclusive action-adventure, sold over half a million units and took top spot after a mid-October release. Nintendo's Wii Sports Resort, the oldest title in the charts, retained a strong presence, and the Xbox 360 accounts for five of the top 10 games.

Wii Sports Resort, which came out in July, was the only game from before September to feature in the charts. Nevertheless, it remained in such demand that despite having just two games in the top 10, total sales of Nintendo Wii games were more that those for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS combined.

Four of the top tep games had more than one edition released, a growing trend in recent months and years. Wii Fit Plus can be bought as a game only, or with the Wii Balance Board. Similarly, Wii Sports Resort is available as just the game, or bundled with the the Wii MotionPlus, an accessory that increases the presicion of the Wii's remote controllers. NBA 2K10 on the PS3 and 360 was on sale as a standard $59.99 retail price or in a special $99 Anniversary Edition, with various extras including a sports locker redesigned as a video game container.

Overall software sales were down 11 percent on the previous October - but then again, October 2007 and 2008 were the best on record.
