It's a whole lotta fun on board 2011's cruise ships

US cruise line Carnival Cruises has released details of the attractions that will feature on board its latest cruise liner, the Carnival Magic, when it debuts next May.

The 3,690-passenger vessel is the newest "fun ship" from Carnival, which says that it will contain several firsts for both the cruise line and the industry.

An on-board pub, complete with home-brew beer is one of the concepts, along with the first ropes course at sea, a net course suspended above deck that offers guests (with the stomach for it) views of the sea 150 feet (45m) below.

Another attraction is the on-board WaterWorks aqua park, which features a "Twister" spiral slide and a splash park complete with 500-gallon (1,890 liter) "dump bucket" which is aimed at youngsters and families.

Echoing the open-air promenade features found on the Oasis of the Seas, which debuted last year from Royal Caribbean, Carnival Magic will also feature a half mile (0.8 km) promenade which encircles a deck so that guests can stretch their legs.

The 130,000-ton ship is set to be one of the largest to launch next year, despite holding fewer passengers than the 128,000-ton Disney Dream, which is set to make its maiden voyage in January.

Disney Dream features the four-storey high-speed log ride "Aquaduck," which sounds pretty fun itself, extending 16 feet (nearly 5 meters) off the edge of the ship at one point, before a sharp turn back to safety.

She will also offer fun-loving guests "Goofy's Sports Deck", "Nemo's Reef" and the "Donald Pool."
