A 'poshtel', for those of you who hadn’t guessed, means posh hostel. Luxury hostel accommodation was identified at this month's World Travel Market 2014 as a key trend for next year, so it looks like the gap yah might be back.

The term is used to describe hostels that mix luxury with affordable, and the basic necessities of any travelling citizen: free Wi-Fi, modern design and of course, en-suite facilities. Gone are the days of sharing with a dozen others and vying for the bathroom.

Travel site Trivago has compiled their top 10 poshtels in Europe. From a Jameson bottle chandelier, to a private cinema room or a restored 19th century palace, you won't have to slum it on your travels - and rooms start from just £19.
