London fashion week, which drew to a close yesterday, may lack the celebrity pulling power of rival shows in Paris or New York, but it can take pride in its status as the world's top showcase for fresh talent. The designers you see in London today you will see in New York and Paris tomorrow. Superstar British designers such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Matthew Williamson all started out in the capital. And some of the talents featured in this year's show, could well go far. So don't fret over the fact that Anna Wintour, the editor of US Vogue, stayed away: she'll no doubt catch up eventually.
