The Oscar statuettes have by now found their way onto A-list mantlepieces, or been lost down the back of stretch limousines, so it's a good a time as any to ask: did the winners deserve their prize?
Best Picture: 12 Years a Slave
A snap poll of Twitter shows opinion to be more or less uniformly in favour of the win for Steve McQueen's slavery epic. Now let's see if this poll can hit our first 100 per cent 'yes' vote (no bias, or anything).
Best Director: Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity
Here the early reaction is less certain. Some people loved it. Other people felt a bit let down.
Best Actor: Matthew McConaughey, Dallas Buyers Club
It wasn't Leonardo di Caprio, or Christian Ejiofor, but the man who used to be famous for having a really nice six-pack and good teeth. Now he's also famous for an ability to lose weight and act well. So swings and round-a-bouts.
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine
Oscar number two for Blanchett, previously a winner of the 'supporting' gong for her portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in The Aviator.
