Seven fake Hurricane Sandy pictures you're sharing

Extraordinary images of Hurricane Sandy are going great guns on social media - but some of the most famous are fake.

Mashable highlights seven that have duped online storm-watchers, including a photoshopped poster from The Day After Tomorrow, "rainy" pictures taken well before the storm, and an art installation featuring Ronald McDonald. The first picture above is a composite photo of New York harbour and a 2004 shot taken by photographer Mike Hollingshead.

This one, on the other hand, had nobody fooled.
