Shocking visualisation of drone strikes in Pakistan
26 March 2013 05:56 PM
Data falls from the sky in Pitch Interactive's shocking visualisation of every drone attack to have occurred in Pakistan since 2004.
The chart, which highlights the paucity of high-value targets assassinated and high number of "others", underscores just how much President Obama has stepped up the strikes since he took office.
It uses data collected by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and the New America Foundation.
The visualisation project was overseen by Wesley Grubbs, creative and technology director at Pitch. He was motivated to make it out of disappointment with existing models: “The data visualisations we found were either geographic in nature or lacked a narrative to help inform people in an engaging way."
