The man best known for his bunga-bunga parties could be in with a chance at making a surprise comeback.
Leaving Italy on the edge of a financial abyss, only 15 months ago a scandal-plagued Berlusconi was forced to resign.
Despite facing a catalogue of sleaze and corruption allegations, he has now placed second in the Italian elections.
Our own Ben Chu said he:
"spoke more sense on the economy in the election campaign than the other mainstream parties."
