SCYLD BERRY has spotted the cause of the England batsmen's problems ('the Pakistanis have learned to soak the rougher half with sweat . . . thus making it heavier and travelling through the air more slowly). The two halves of the ball bowled by the Pakistanis travel at different speeds] So, if the batsmen hit one half, they miss the other.
