Simon Turnbull writes that the medal ceremony for the men's 100m at the 1928 Olympics was delayed "because officials didn't have a Maple Leaf flag" ("Christie: An idol to follow", Sport, 14 July). Not surprising as Canada didn't adopt the flag until almost 40 years later.
