Letter: A united effort to put the British economy right

Sir: Professor Lord Desai (Letters, 1 October) states that I propose that unemployment benefits be cut. He is mistaken. In writing of 'the reduction in the cost of support for the unemployed' I was referring to the measures that I had proposed for the reduction of unemployment and so of the cost of their support.
