Letter: Arts pay-off
As A recent fine art graduate, I was pleased to read Matthew Sweet's article "Which one's the dinosaur?" (Real Life, 12 January). While our society seems hell-bent on herding its youth toward the waning dream of a stable, corporate career (as if this were able per se to guarantee a rewarding, and interesting life), it is crying out for the creative and free-thinking minds that will take us into the next century. Bravery is required in taking an arts degree, but a mind freed to think is our most valuable asset if we are to face the future with any confidence.
