Letter: Battle of Atlantic still demands true grit

Sir: As wartime naval personnel my husband and I applied for tickets to attend the service to be held in Liverpool Cathedral on Sunday 30 May to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.

We thought it prudent to inquire whether these tickets are for inside or outside the cathedral - they are for outside. So, along with many other elderly folk who were concerned in the Battle of the Atlantic, we shall be standing for a couple of hours, remembering those wartime experiences.

I hope that we all will have the stamina that we had during those wartime years to survive.
