Letter: Christian Europe's betrayal of peaceful Muslims in Bosnia

Sir: Each toothless Western communique about Bosnia has spurred Serbs, and recently Croats, too, to ever crueller slaughter of Bosnian Muslims and more ferocious destruction of their cities: only President Clinton's momentary adoption of a resolute posture induced them briefly to desist.

With the renewed onslaught on Sarajevo, the final solution is under way; and still our leaders will do no more to discourage these savage bullies than issue one more subdued complaint.

If we are to save a whole people from annihilation, and redeem the shame of our cowardice and indifference, we, with or without the agreement of other Western nations, must intervene at once with decisive military force.
