Letter: Church attitudes towards remarriage and divorce

Sir: When a divorce is needed, it is the state that one goes to for the legal action. So, is it not a reasonable option for the church to say, 'You went to the state for your divorce, so please will you now go to the same authority for the remarriage'? If then, having done that, people have a real interest in coming to the church for a blessing of that new marriage, that may be arranged.
