Letter: Cutting edge

Sir: John Skelton might have saved himself a journey to Yugoslavia to see the method of cutting granite with plugs and feathers (obituary of Mark Batten, 20 January). The technique is alive and well here on Dartmoor and is being actively encouraged by the National Park.
