From Mr Fachtna O'Reilly

Sir: T. Gourlay (letter, 13 February) refers to democracy in the context of Northern Ireland. As most informed people know that the boundary of Northern Ireland was drawn for a particular purpose, based on a sectarian head count, democracy is hardly an issue. Therefore, please spare us the tortuous discussion on this matter and be happy with "a Protestant parliament for a Protestant people".

Yours sincerely,

Fachtna O'Reilly
