Letter: Doubt for the Day

Sir: Angela Lambert's appeal for some proper old-time religion on the radio ('In the name of God, No]', 15 June) will be supported by many listeners, whether religious or not, who are sickened by the pap broadcast not only in the Thought for the Day on Radio 4 but also in the Words of Faith on the World Service. (To be fair, there is the earlier Prayer for the Day on Radio 4.)

But there should also be some proper non-religious or even anti-

religious radio for the third of the population who don't believe in God. What about some thoughts for the day which are atheistic as well as theistic, and some words of doubt as well as faith? When will the BBC serve all its listeners?
