Sir: It is, perhaps, insensitive to attack our politicians for neglecting to take action which could have prevented the Dunblane tragedy, at a time that they share the general grief.
But over the years, at intervals, members of gun clubs have committed violent crimes with the weapons they have been allowed to retain in their homes, and Parliament has done little. If Japan can have rigorous gun controls, why cannot Britain? Let us have the action from Parliament which will speak louder than all the words of compassion, however sincere.
