Letter: English vote for devolution

Sir: Neil Lyndon's attack on the "Celtic Fringes" is quite absurd ("Let the English voice be heard", 23 July). I was born and brought up in Wales and never had any sense of being on the "fringe" of anything. It's this sort of English nationalism which has led to the increase in nationalism in Scotland and Wales.

We're not all nationalists; I support any policy which will decentralise power and make government more accountable to local people, that is why I think it is a shame that English regions are being denied the right to referendums on devolution.
