Letter: Feuding, fading Afrikaners; touching moment on screen; and all South Africa's children
Sir: Robert Jackson describes the absorption of Afrikanerdom into the hedonistic cosmopolitanism that American power has promoted all over the globe. He urges the Afrikaners into 'miscegenating, creolising' in their African locality. As Afrikaans, like other minority languages, is due to be overshadowed by Anglo-American computerspeak, a living tongue is unlikely to survive his proposal for biological suicide.
The Afrikaners are indeed at the frontier in time as in space, the first of the white nations to lose their ethnic identity through submergence in the cultureless, religionless and raceless planetary population of 'consumers'. This is a fate that threatens every tribe, every state and every subspecies, but to which, as a result of the post-war anti-racist taboo, no European people - from Belfast to Cape Town - will be allowed to lead organised resistance.
Yours faithfully,
