Letter: Food for the birds

Sir: Categories of food which should not be presented to garden birds include very salty items such as salted bacon, salted peanuts or crisps and anything that could choke a bird such as whole bacon rinds (letters, 13, 20 November). Chopped "green" or "sweetcure" bacon is probably acceptable but in general garden birds are not keen on highly flavoured or processed food scraps. Curry and baked beans have been total failures in my own garden!
