Sir: Although I can understand the disappointment caused by the Grand National debacle, I find the fiasco warmly reassuring.
Despite hi-tech computers, satellites, video, mobile telephones, super-models and 'virtual reality', there is still room in the late 20th century for a good, old-fashioned cock-up.
Saturday's events have rekindled my faith in human nature.
