Letter: How can a doctor's signature cost pounds 60?

Sir: Further to your article by David Nicholson-Lord on funeral costs ('Funeral costs rise above inflation for second year', 4 March), my father died last month and among the costs was the item 'doctor's fee - pounds 60'.

Puzzled, I enquired the reason and was told it was for his signature on the death certificate. Any excuses, medical profession?
